Em-Pro EMT-7R was previously known as CMZ-7R Power Rotary/Swaging Machine

When making a power rotary machine purchase, the following points are crucial to consider in advance of your final decision.  Here is a detailed explanation of all pertinent points specifically as they relate to our Em-Pro brand EMT-7R:

  • How it’s built:

    • The EMT-7R is a heavy duty solid cast iron machine with an oil bath gearcase.  The heavy-duty gearcase allows for a large amount of torque to be output at the drive shafts, from low speed to high speed. The unit is driven by a high efficiency flange mount 1HP motor, and all the shafts run in greaseable bronze bushings for an extremally long useable life.  If and when the bushings wear out, they are easily changed.  At 450 lbs., the EMT-7R is one of heaviest machines in the market today.

  • Ease of use:
    • Our Rotary/Swaging machine, according to many current owners, is the “simply best out there”.  The EMT-7R comes standard with a hand operated screw type top shaft control, but many customers are choosing to go with either Pneumatic or Hydraulic systems.  These options allow for essentially hands-free operation, making it safe for the operator, and aids in reducing the possibility of injuries caused from repetitive straining movements.

  • Capacity:

    • The EMT-7R, depending on the rolls being used, can form as heavy as 14 GA Mild Steel for simple beading operations, and as heavy as 16 GA Stainless for our 1/2” Vanstone Flange Rolls.  Each set of rolls have their own maximum capacity due to clearances for material thicknesses.  The working throat depth is 11”.

  • Options:
    • Whether you are looking for a basic machine or a production machine, the EMT-7R is the only machine made today that gives you 3 different options for top shaft controls –
      • For lighter gauge materials, the Air Cylinder option is ideal, as it allows the operator to hold the part being formed with two hands, therefore eliminating the need to crank the manual handle.
      • The Air/Oil option uses a heavy duty pneumatically actuated hydraulic pump.  The special two stage foot pedal allows the operator to start and stop the rolls from turning, and the second stage controls the downward movement of the hydraulic cylinder.  This option is very popular for heavy use applications and jobs where the material is primarily 20 Ga and heavier.
      • The third option is similar to the Air/Oil, but instead of using only the foot pedal to control the movement of the top shaft, we incorporate a PLC Controlled Programmable Control which enables the operator to input variables that when run, control the movement of the top shaft from start to finish.  When the program is finished, the top shaft moves to a programmed home position, thus eliminating the need for the top shaft to travel its full stroke on the next cycle.
    • Other options available are –
      • A Heavy-Duty Base Stand that raises the standard working height of the machine from 31.5” to 42”.
      • Our popular Large Back Stop, which replaces the smaller factory plate with a 20” x 20” plate made from wear resistant armor for customers using plasma cut parts.  The Large Back Plate also has angled slots which hold the included bearings that are used for support, thereby minimizing movement of the part while it is being formed.
      • For those customers forming longer length tubes, we offer our Spring-Loaded Pipe Support Stand, which applies consistent pressure to the part against the back stop.  This support stand is also adjustable in height to ensure the tube stays in a horizontal position.

The 7R is a solid machine, dependable & user friendly! As a commercial / industrial HVAC shop, we use the 7R to crimp, bead, & flange exhaust pipe for dust collection, 16GA galvanized & stainless steel! The Empire machine does a great job at a third of the price of competitive equipment!

The CMZ-7R Power Rotary Machine is one of the best pieces of equipment we have purchased. It has been used on numerous projects including a large project at the University of new Mexico Hospital where we turned 1/2” Vanstone Flanges on 16GA 304 Stainless, eight hours a day for months! It is simple and easy to use and does everything you said it would. I can’t say enough about it and the service we received from Empire was excellent.

Our CMZ-7R Power Rotary Machine with the new digital control is fantastic. It is quick and easy to program. I wish i had a second machine.
The spins in collar rolls produce an excellent quality fitting. In the first four months that we owned the machine we produced a couple thousand spin in collars – works great! We are very happy with it.

We purchased ten (10) CMZ-7R machines for our production plant. For the most part we are working with stainless steel and galvalume and these machines work anywhere from 8-12 hours/day. The CMZ-7R is an excellent production machine! We’ve put them to the test.

    :

We received our machine about 9 months ago, the machine is built extremely strong and should last for many years with a minimum amount of maintenance. The motor and gearbox run very smooth, and it has a lot of power for the heavier gauges. This power turning machine is the way to go, if you are producing a lot of round pipe and fittings! I only wish there were more dies available for it.

We had one project that required 28,000 lbs of stainless steel duct. The CMZ-7R was our KEY machine. We moved it to the job site for offsetting all the lap joints. The CMZ-7R was a life saver!
